A September To Remember
Perfect weather and perfect fishing will make a glorious September.
Miss Susie scoring daily out of Solomons with mackerel, bluefish, cobia and redfish.
We have hardhead in the Patuxent in good size and numbers, maybe the best in a decade. Big spot are there and some sea bass.
Hardhead from Patuxent.
There are rockfish in the deep holes and in the shallows of the Patuxent and Potomac and their tributaries.
Chris Madere continues to score big rockfish in the Patuxent casting lures in the shallows from his kayak.
The redfish/puppy drum/slot reds/channel bass/bull reds (all same fish, just different sizes) are proliferating in the bay, rivers, and creeks.
Kyle with a slot redfish and rockfish from the early morning bite in the St. Mary's River last Thursday. Fish slammed top water poppers. There were many others released.
Spanish mackerel, bull reds, cobia, and chopper bluefish are in the bay taking trolled surgical eels and small shiny spoons. Just drop over your number one or two planers and lure and hold on!
Cobia on Miss Susie, fish of a lifetime.

Shore fishermen are finding blues, reds, rockfish, spot and croaker on the moving tides. Bloodworm, lug worms, shrimp, and squid baits are all working well.
The best catch of hardhead (croaker) I have seen in a decade. Capt. Bernie Shea on his charter boat the " Shea-D-Lady" is making catches like this in the Patuxent.
Capt. Bernie is getting plenty of mackerel, too.
The catfish are starting to ease their way down from their summertime retreats in the upper rivers and fresher water. The catfish bite was good in Bushwood and Cobb Island this week.
Michael Jenkins shows off a typical bluefish from the bay this week.
Crabs are plentiful and huge for recreational pots off private docks. Chicken neckers are getting them, too.
Mattias Falcon landed this huge speckled trout in the St. Mary's river last Friday.
