Explore Maryland’s early history with engaging activities and demonstrations that bring the past to life. Our inclusive event is perfect for families, history buffs, and curious minds of all ages. SCHEDULE:
- St. Mary's Fort Tour at 10:30 a.m.: Dive into history with a guided tour of the site where Native occupation and St. Mary’s Fort have been documented. Discover the interactions between these communities from the 1600s to today.
- Spring Storytime at 10:30 a.m.: Perfect for young explorers aged 5-8, this session will spark imaginations with tales of springtime adventures.
- 17th Century Hearth Cooking at 11:00 a.m.: Watch and learn as we recreate delicious recipes from the past.12:00 p.m. Clothing Demonstration at the Woodland Indian Hamlet. See traditional clothing styles and learn about their cultural significance.
- County Court - The Trial of the Unlawful Dog at 12:30 p.m.: Experience a reenactment of a 17th-century court case that promises to be both educational and entertaining.
- Performance by The Piscataway Indian Nation Singers and Dancers at 1:00 p.m.: Enjoy the vibrant music and dance traditions of the Piscataway Indian Nation.
- St. Mary's Fort Tour at 2:00 p.m.: In case you missed the morning tour, join us for another opportunity to explore this historical site.
- Spring Storytime (for ages 5-8) at 2:00 p.m.: Another chance for the little ones to enjoy captivating stories.
- Printing Press Demonstration at 2:30 p.m.: Witness the power of the press and see how information was spread in the 17th century.
- Gunnery Demonstration at 3:45 p.m.: End the day with a bang as we demonstrate historical gunnery techniques—prepare for a loud finale!
